Annie Cheney has played the piano for 20 years, mostly as a hobby and for personal enjoyment. Her musical journey started at 8 years old when she took group recorder lessons with a few friends. By age 10 she was ready to start taking private piano lessons. After completing Alfred's Piano Course she moved on to learn sonatinas, hymns & worship music, ragtime/jazz, and modern piano pieces.  In 2015 she began teaching beginner and intermediate piano lessons to children and adults in her community. She uses Alfred's Basic Piano Course for most of her students and adds in supplemental exercises, holiday music, and other pieces students request to learn.  She loves when students ask for help composing their own music! Annie's goal in teaching is to promote an enjoyable learning experience and help students grasp challenging concepts & techniques in the easiest way possible. The most rewarding part of teaching for her is to see students excited about music!
